"Passionate Love" Women's Conference

What a privilege we had to coordinate the amazing women’s conference─ ”Amor Apasionado (Passionate Love)! On April 2, over 210 women─ pastors and leaders─ from 33 churches in Ciudad Sandino received a special word as they gathered together at the LifeLink Ministry Base.

The guest speaker, our dear Pastor Colleen Rouse, brought a message that ministered directly to the heart of these ladies. Smiles, joy, and passion highlighted the conference geared to present how God’s love can infuse women in the church to live out vibrant relationships with their Heavenly Father.

The theme of the conference was based on the book Crazy Love by Francis Chan. At the end of the event each lady received a copy of the book, a certificate, and a gift bag containing an outfit giving by the generous women of Victory World Church in Atlanta! There’s no question, all the ladies were blessed and honored, and we are grateful to have been part of such wonderful experience.

Gymnastics at The LifeLink School!

In March, after the beginning of the school year, the excitement continued to grow at "Centro Escolar LifeLink" with the beginning of the gymnastics program. This was made a possibility thanks to Carrie Russell, an accomplished gymnast, who spent priceless time training the school's new gymnastics teacher. Having received the donation of brand new mats, The LifeLink School is now prepared to offer the classes as an extracurricular program for the students. We are convinced that gymnastics will help focus our students in the way of discipline and perseverance.

The future of these children looks brighter than ever! A God-centered outlook and a positive attitude will define the path that they take in life. There is no doubt that each one of the students at The LifeLink School has the opportunity to become an influential leader in character and integrity for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Changing Lives!

“Perdón que los interrumpa, pero encontré esta basura tirada en el suelo”, said Rogelio, a first grader at the LifeLink School. (“Excuse me for bothering you, but I found this trash on the ground.”)

As some of us were gathered in the kitchen of the school, Rogelio, entered and politely interrupted us to let us know with these words that someone had thrown some trash on the ground. It was such a special moment! I felt joy, satisfaction, and pride when we heard and saw Rogelio do what he did. It is so beautiful to see and experience the tremendous impact that LifeLink International is having in the children of this area in Ciudad Sandino. The opportunity to be part of this is, without a doubt, a blessing and a reason to feel proud.

We are privileged to continue serving in the area of Christian Education. We teach our students about Jesus and the love He has for each and every one of them. As you may already know, every Friday morning we have a children’s chapel service at “Centro Escolar LifeLink”. We worship, pray, and experience the love God with the students.

One very special treat earlier this was the visit of Pastor Colleen Rouse, from Victory World Church in Atlanta. She shared a word from God about healing directed to the 3, 4,5, and 6 year-old students. They paid close attention to our guest speaker as she delivered a passionate message. The response was anointed. After they were lead in prayer by Pastor Colleen, many of them were ready to share about the amazing healing power of God. Their hearts were full of faith because they had believed a message from God’s Word!

Wonderful First Week

Wow, what a great first week of school we had at Centro Escolar LifeLink!

On Monday, February 21 Centro Escolar LifeLink opened up its doors to receive 155

students. There are no words to explain the joy that we all felt to see old and new

happy little faces of children, whom without a doubt where entering through the doors of hope and opportunity.

On the very first day our first graders surprised us by forming an orderly line just right at the entrance of the school, I even thought they had been practicing during vacation time! Monday was good but Tuesday was even better with only a few of the 3 year-old kids shedding tears when coming to school. Then, surprisingly by Wednesday all the students were very happy and no crying was heard from them.

By the end of the week we all were amazed to see how good this week had turned out.

We’ve already seen children forming orderly lines; neatly wearing their uniforms; saying “Good morning!” with smiling faces; learning; laughing; being obedient; honoring God with their prayers; playing; eating their lunches; and parents saying “Thank you”!

We are so thankful to have such a fantastic group of teachers and assistants. Above all, they fear the Lord, and have a burning passion with legitimate commitment in their hearts to be part of this great vision.

Humbly I take the opportunity to thank, from the center of my heart, every one of you, who make this work possible. These children wouldn’t have such an opportunity, and I can certainly say, wouldn’t have any hope if it wasn’t for your love, care, and support.

We are confident that this year is going to be full of blessings. Only one week of school has gone by; we can’t wait to see how wonderful the coming weeks are going to be!

Equipping Church Leaders in Nicaragua

In less than three weeks a short-term missionary group of Christian men and women, lead by senior Pastors Bob & Shelley Winn, will be joining LifeLink International in Nicaragua. One of the main purposes they will be moving upon, is in the equipping of 150 church leaders in the municipalities of Ciudad Sandino and Nueva Vida in the city of Managua.

The mission of the church is lead to completion by obedient and faithful servants that carry the responsibility of serving, training, and equipping other believers in their congregations. Elisa and I are honored to be involved in organizing the two days of conference/seminary that will flow in the teaching of effective leadership skills and refreshing words of encouragement. Appointed opportunities such as this one are always embraced by pastors and leaders serving in the front lines. We believe for an engaging, fruitful and rewarding time of ministry to many men and women leading their local churches... It's all for the glory of Jesus Christ!!

New Season of Education and Opportunity

Elisa and I are super excited about the work with LifeLink International in 2011! We are getting ready to, once again, take over the life-changing task of serving at the LifeLink School in Nicaragua. Soon we'll be seeing the faces of all the precious students that were part of last year's amazing journey. Also, we will joyfully welcome our new class of Level 1 students--the 3 year-old kids. Another reason to celebrate is that in three weeks 40 first graders will occupy one of the classrooms in the brand new primary school building (the first of two buildings). With a total enrollment of 155 students, it is going to be a school year full of smiles, love, joy, life-learning experiences and, certainly, education and opportunity!

It is with gratitude and humility that we move forward with God's ordained task to serve, minister, and impact hundreds of children and families in Ciudad Sandino. We are convinced that many generations shall be impacted by the fruit of the work being done in Nicaragua through LifeLink International!!

Newsletter from The Rosa’s, missionaries to Nicaragua with LifeLink International

Our tasks and responsibilities have been increasing at the LifeLink School in Nicaragua. In May we started overseeing the kitchen and housekeeping areas of the school. In our roles is included the development of weekly menus and purchasing the food items for meal preparation.

“We acknowledge the need of the each child to have nutritious and well-balanced lunch meals on a daily basis. Every week, one of the things we feed our kids at LifeLink School is the now famous “Rosa chicken”. This is one dish they really enjoy. Pasta is another very popular dish among the kids at the school. It is a delightful sight to see them eating all their lunch with happy faces!
While Elisa is assisting with the third-level preschoolers, I spent a good part of the day in the kitchen, inspecting the meal preparation and serving process.” -Jaime

Also, we keep up with the cleanliness of the kitchen and bathrooms, in addition to purchasing the cleaning and hygienic supplies of the school. We believe in the benefit and value of having a clean and safe school environment, as this is a very important part of the education and the development of every child. It is honoring for us to be entrusted to oversee such significant part of the values at LifeLink School.

It is a fact that the preschool stages are the most critical to teach and train the next generation of thinkers and compassionate leaders of the nations. We continue to strive in the Christian Education for the children of the school; it is a calling that we answer on a daily basis. Besides preparing the lessons for every week, we also instruct the students outside of the classrooms during recess and lunch times. We understand the importance of a dynamic and unceasing instruction of principles and values, especially at such a young age.

A couple of minutes later I saw her under the table crying so I took her to the bathrooms to wash her face, clean her hands, and calm her down. I asked Maritza why she was crying? Then I saw that she still had the rice in her pocket so I asked again -Why did you put that rice in your pocket? Is that for someone? And immediately she started crying again, but this time she answered and said: "Es para mi mamita" ("It's for my mommy"). By that moment I was the one with no words to say and the only thing I could do is give her food to take home for her mother. Maritza wanted to share with her mom what could possibly be her only meal of the day.
Just today in our Christhian Education subject we had started studying the Generosity principle and there was this 5 year-old girl giving me a practical example about it... What a blessing!!!

This is why we do what we do… this is why we are missionaries!!
As we approach the end of the first year of classes at the LifeLink School, we are already looking forward for the next school year. The challenges will be more and the work will be harder, but we are convinced that the fruit will be abundant and the reward even greater.

We as missionaries with LifeLink International have the capacity to reach and bring hope, not only to the children, but also to the teenagers, young-adults, and those of older ages. Currently, we are working to unfold and implement an ESL curriculum that we would teach to teenagers and young-adults. This is a very exciting project for us since we have the call and opportunity before us to reach out to the community where we work.

The love of Christ compels us to do great things for the kingdom of God here on earth! In our hearts we have a deep desire to obey and follow the direction that the Lord has prepared for us in advance. There are greater things yet to be done in Nicaragua—and because of this, we always want to be found in the place of hope, faith, and sacrifice.

Committed Life

The life that we have been called to live is one of faith, hope, love. It is because of the priceless gift of the Father that we have healing, peace, and salvation. Now we can walk with confidence and purpose knowing that condemnation is no more, and that life eternal awaits us! There is no other way to experience everlasting fulfillment and contentment outside of Jesus Christ our blessed King and Savior. He has sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in the heart of the every believer (those who love and revere God) so that we can trust Him and live in committed personal relationship with Him. In the midst of worship and adoration our eternal Counselor will be pleased-- and He will give us boldness to move forward and bring glory to the precious name of Jesus. GOD will supply for all our needs and more--spiritually, physically, and emotionally; He will keep us, comfort us, and uphold us. Abundant living is found in the committed life of Jesus, and if we abide in Him and remain in Him, then we are heirs indeed!

Care and Generosity

Today as every day at the LifeLink School our students were having lunch. There I was supervising the third level class and I happened to see Maritza...she had put a little bit of rice in her shirt pocket so I ask her why she did that, but she said no word. The love of Christ Jesus compels us!

Elisa and I are ever mindful of the love of God showered upon our lives. That is why we offer ourselves up to Him day in and day out. We know that He has called us to do great works in His name and under the leading of the Holy Spirit... and we just want to obey! The mercies of God calls each and every believer to humble himself and submit to the will of God and to the move of His Spirit. That's when the believer becomes a disciple and an ambassador of His love. Being a follower is just not enough commitment to know Him... Jesus, the Creator of all things and the Giver of life eternal. God has called His people to be worshipers, to live in gratitude and adoration! He has given us the biggest and most precious gift of all, His Son nailed on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. It is at the feet of the risen King where we find mercy and peace, restoration, and purpose for our lives. Let us fall in love more and more with this wonderful Savior and lover of our souls! Jesus is Lord!!

Medical Team helps communities of Ciudad Sandino and Santa Elena

Last week a medical team from St. Louis worked really hard during four consecutive days of clinics in the outskirts of Managua, Nicaragua. The group was hosted by Mike and Deborah Turner, founders of LifeLink International. It was over 100 degrees for most of the week and everyone felt the hot temperatures of April in Nicaragua.

The children of the LifeLink School and their families benefited from the expertise and care of the medical team. Many people experienced the love of Jesus Christ through the work of this group of christians who came to share their time, talents and giftings in a very special way.

Elisa and I enjoyed very much assisting the team throughout the whole week. At the closing of the work, over 1,500 people passed through the medical stations, where each worker gave his/her best. Children and entire families received prayer and encouragement aside from the vitamins and prescribed medications. The power of the love of God was (and continues to be) at work in the lives of many! Jesus reigns!

Captivating Women at the LifeLink Base

"Mujeres Cautivantes" ("Captivating Women"). That was the name of the women's conference that took place this past Saturday at the LifeLink Base in Nicaragua. One hundred ten pastor's wives and church leaders were present and together we had an amazing day!
Pastor Collen Rouse brought words of deliverance, and ministered to the hearts of these ladies with the love of Jesus Christ.

"¡Me sentí especial, sigo viviendo ese día!" ("I felt special, I'm still living that day!"), these are the words of one the pastor's wife who attended the conference. There is no words to describe how happy we are and how bless we feel to have had the opportunity of serving in this conference. We know the lives of these ladies were touched and refreshed in a unique way!

(From the heart of a Nicaraguan girl) : I want to praise God for His goodness, and thank LifeLink International and Pastor Colleen Rouse for loving on the Nicaraguan women in such a way. This really makes a difference in their lives.

Moving and Growing

God continues to pour His love and grace upon our lives and all the LifeLink ministry work. We have been so blessed during these past few weeks! Elisa and I have been meditating on and growing in the knowledge of the faithful character of our Lord Jesus. We are aware that He is our sustainer, fortress, helper, and everlasting God and Savior. Our Heavenly Father is always on time and never late; His grace is all sufficient every moment.

Today we started week 4 at the LifeLink School; we have seen the children smile, grow, and learn so much the past three weeks! The joy in our hearts and thankfulness to God can't be contained. We can appreciate the happiness in the faces of children like Jonathan, Adriana, Caleb, and Marcela when they come to school in the morning.

All children at the school are receiving love and care. We are happy to see them eating a warm and nutritious meal on a daily basis. The spiritual life of each child is being shaped with Christian education in worship, devotion, and teaching. All last week the kids were learned about living in unity based on Salm 133:1--This is very important value that covers concepts such as loving others, caring for others, working and playing together, and respecting each other. On Friday we had the first pre-school wide devotional and the kids loved it!

Praise be to God for all the things happening at the LifeLink School!

Doors open at LifeLink School- Nicaragua

Yesterday, LifeLink International celebrated a major achievement with the opening of the LifeLink School located in the municipality of Ciudad Sandino in Managua, Nicaragua. It was a glorious day packed with excitement and joy as over 100 pre-school age children came through the doors! Needless to say, the team was ready to receive the young ones after weeks of hard work and preparation.
We are thankful to God our Redeemer, who has lead us to take part of this wonderful vision and to use us as vessels in this great work.

We are preparing for the first week of school at Centro Escolar LifeLink. I'm excited about all the good things that are going to happen...kids receiving love, education, opportunity, a complete meal daily, christian education, and much more in a safe environment. I'm sure we are going to grow in many areas as well. What a great opportunity God has given us!
Next week will be busy...but also exciting; the guys working in construction projects and the girls preparing ourselves to minister, serve, and teach "niños"!
I am humbling myself and praying to God that He will give us wisdom and cover us with his love to be able to do what He has call us to do.

Marking three weeks with pasta

Tonight, Elisa prepared for dinner this not so common dish in Nicaragua. After we were done eating I told Elisa, "I was missing pasta!" Then, we realized that today it's been 3 weeks since we got here. This time have been great and challenging; we are definently moving forward.

I enjoyed dinner, and I am looking forward to the weeks of work ahead and many more experiences in Nicaragua...but, for now I'm glad there is leftover pasta for tomorrow!

Settling Down in Nicaragua

We arrived in the city of Managua on January 6, 2010 from Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A. and were picked up at the airport by Wayne and Megan Tingle, our fellow missionaries with LifeLink International. We are excited to be serving Jesus in the country of Nicaragua and look forward to what God is going to do in our lives and through us.
Our work will be focused in the Ciudad Sandino municipality, where the LifeLink School and ministry facilities are located. LifeLink will open the school in a month and everyone's expectations are high... it's going to be great!
